Look at Me (Jill’s Song)
I wrote this song on the way to Long Island New York to attend the funeral of my niece Jill who died tragically in an automobile accident.
Jill was an energetic, vibrant young woman who had finally found her calling working with the developmentally disabled. She had a gregarious nature, always laughing and sported a mane of gorgeous, long red hair. By her very nature, she commanded attention.
I sang the song at her memorial and have returned to LI over the past 23 years to sing at her annual memorial service at the facility where she worked as the activities director. My wife Kathy assisted me with the lyrics and sang on the original version. Her heath prevents her from singing on this newer version.
I decided to re-record this and have it arranged and orchestrated by producer and engineer Roger Baker at his Downstairs Studios in Albuquerque. Roger is a graduate of the Berkley School of music, has worked with some legendary artists and has had a career beyond anything I could hope for.

Look At Me (Jill’s Song)
Look at me, oh mommy, look at me.
I am happy. I am laughing. I am free.
After wandering life alone, you’re the reason I came home.
Look at me.
Look at me, please daddy, look at me.
I’m a pretty ballerina. Look at me.
While I might have made the same mistakes you did when you were my age,
look at me.
I have never chosen one direction.
I have never walked a single path.
I have always had too many questions
and I’ve wanted nothing more than just to laugh.
Look at me, my brother, look at me.
We’re reflected in each other. Look at me.
When you look into your mirror you know that I’ll be there.
Look at me.
Look at me, my sister, look at me.
We are gossip. We are secrets.
Look at me.
We have tried to make our way in a world that will not change.
Look at me.
We have sometimes had our disagreements.
We have traveled in each other’s shoes.
I must say I’ve had the time of my life,
living as a family underneath this one small roof.
Look at me, my family, look at me.
I’m forever young, forever, look at me.
When you need a little smile, just think of me a while.
Look at me.
